Human Factors Engineering (HFE) deals with the design of systems that people use at work and in leisure. It ensures that systems, jobs, products, interfaces and environments are designed to match the physical and mental abilities and limitations of their intended users. HFE is the key factor in ensuring the effectiveness, safety, usability, acceptability and success of human-system integrations. It is therefore, important for engineers and designers to understand the capabilities and limitations of the users, such that systems are designed to enhance the performance and safety of the users.

This Masters in Human Factors Engineering presents an exciting and challenging programme, covering a wide range of topics including: Human Centred Design, Ergonomics, Occupational Health and Safety, Human factors in Virtual Reality and Visualisation, Designing effective Info-Comm Systems, Methods in Usabillity Evaluation, etc.

With the fulfillment of course requirements, you will be awarded the Degree of Master of Science (Human Factors Engineering) from NTU.

PROGRAMME

Masters Degree in Human Factors Engineering

Successful completion of the course requires that a candidate passes either:

1) 4 core subjects, 4 elective subjects of which 2 subjects must be from Elective Module A, and complete a project on which the candidate must submit a dissertation; OR

2) 4 core subjects, 6 elective subjects, of which 2 subjects must be from Elective Module A and 1 subject must be the compulsory subject M6688 Independent Research.

Project Dissertation

Candidates who opt to complete 4 Core modules and 4 Elective Modules must undertake a human factors engineering project and submit a dissertation based on the project.

Candidates who opted to complete 4 Core modules and 5 Elective modules must Elective Module M6688 Independent Research.
