The transportation system is the basis for any modern economy and core element of daily human life. Worldwide, traffic demand is still growing continuously, and decision makers for politics and economy are facing enormous challenges to safeguard and promote mobility in their societies. The impossibility to build up more and more infrastructure and the increasing awareness of mankind to the sensitivity of environment raise questions for new intelligent solutions for transport systems.

The Joint Master of Science Programme in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) of National University of Singapore (NUS) and Munich University of Technology (TUM) will provide graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with this situation. Students will learn how to design and operate modern transport systems including logistic systems and integrated inter-modal transport management systems – and by that will be prepared to work in the dynamically growing market of transport and mobility.

The program is jointly taught by international NUS and TUM faculty, which has extensive experience both in university research and education and in global industrial product development and management. The non-technical subjects are taught by freelancers from industry. Teaching takes place at the Singapore campus. Successful students will be awarded a joint Master's degree from NUS and TUM.

You will learn the necessary knowledge to design and manage parts of the transportation system. Beside of all these necessary engineering basics, you will acquire in depth knowledge in the field of intelligent transportation system. After the successful graduation, you can consider yourself as an Intelligent Transportation Systems expert. In the programme we offer various compulsory and elective modules which cover all means of transport. Our variety of 14 elective modules (from which you have to select at least four) provides extensive opportunities for specializing in the areas of your special interests. Highlights of our programme are:

* Design and planning of road networks,
* Design and planning public transport networks,
* Preparation of timetables for public transport,
* Design and planning railways, airports and harbours
* Passenger and freight logistic concepts
* Design of road pricing schemes
* Design of real time traffic information systems
* IT applications in transportation sector

This Master programme consists of 3 semesters, i.e. takes 18 months overall. It is based on lectures combined with exercises that provide the students with a deep theoretical understanding of traffic as well as the necessary practical knowledge about system architectures and state-of-the-art software tools; training lessons will build as much as possible on real life studies. A 9-weeks internship in an Asian or European industry or authority together with a 6-month master’s thesis complete the programme. Brief programme overview:

* Full time programme running over 18 months with:
o 10 months of course works (at NUS campus)
o 2 months internship in Germany or Singapore
o 6 months Master’s thesis in industry in Germany or Singapore
* Reputable teaching staff from Germany and Singapore, both from academia and industry

The tuition fee per semester for the ITS (M.Sc.) programme is

SGD 9,000

This fee is including:

* matriculation fees at relevant universities, teaching and examination fees
* lab materials and expenses
* expenses for intercultural program, including tickets for events and industry excursions
* all fees for scripts, excluding text books
* usage of all university facilities at TUM and NUS / NTU or relevant universities like library fees
* all administration fees
* fees for computer and internet access
* excursion and off-campus expenses for mandatory events

Fees charged do not depend on nationality. Our institute acts according to its non-discrimination policy.

Tuition fees are subject to change by action of the supervising boards.

The total tuition fee is payable to the German Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in three equal instalment payments. The payment schedule is as follows:
1st payment is due in July upon confirmation or admission to the programme
2nd payment is due in January
3rd payment is due at the end of June
