Strong English language communication skills are crucial to gain the full benefit of the courses offered by the Adam Smith Business School (ASBS). Whilst we accept several ‘English tests, we prefer candidates to take either the IELTS test or the Pearson’s PTE.
All degree programmes within the ASBS require applicants to achieve the followingminimum:
IELTS: Overall score of 6.5, with 6.5 in 2 of the 4 subtests, and no subtest less than 6.0.
PEARSONS PTE: Overall score of 60, with no subtest less than 59.
SECTION 2 - ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirements differ between degree programmes within the ASBS, however all our programmes require applicants to have achieved an excellent bachelor’s degree from a top Chinese university.
Applications will only be considered from the top 300 ranked universities .

The table below details the Minimum Entry Requirement that must be achieved in order that an applicant will be considered for entry, the Guaranteed Entry Requirement for an immediate offer and the attainment level required for ‘Highly Qualified Applicant’ status.
Minimum Entry Requirement - Applicants who have either achieved the minimumafter completing a degree or have an average overall grade to date that meets the minimum will have their application held back in a ‘Gathered Field’. Applicants will receive a letter from the University explaining that once all applications are received within the specified application window offers will be based on the relative performance of the applicant compared to all other applicants in this category taking into consideration the available number of places for that chosen degree programme.
Guaranteed Entry Requirement - Applicants who exceed the minimum entry requirement and achieve the higher ‘guaranteed’ entry requirement will immediately receive an offer.
Highly Qualified Applicant - Applicants who meet our criteria for Highly Qualified Applicant will be made an immediate offer and flagged on our records to be considered for a scholarship award.

Programme Specific Entry Requirements:
In addition to meeting the Minimum Overall Average Grade, individual degree programmes require applicants to meet Programme Specific Entry Requirements.
The Programme Specific Entry Requirements may include one or more of the following:
a.Specify that only certain degree disciplines will be accepted;
b.Specify that certain modules must be studied as part of the applicants undergraduate degree;
c.Specify grades (or marks) that must be achieved in modules (and these grades / marks may vary depending on the ranking of the university that the applicant is graduating from);
d.In some cases the degree programme will only accept applications from the top 200 institutions.
The tables below detail the Programme Specific Entry Requirements for each of the degree programmes offered by the ASBS in 2015.

Applicants from the top 200 ranked universities, graduating in any discipline will be considered for this degree programme provided they meet the following criteria: Applicants from the ‘985’ universities must attain a minimum overall grade of 75%, but in addition must have completed at least 5 credit-bearing modules in Accounting or Financeand must have attained a minimum of 80% in these modules. Applicants from the ‘211’ universities must attain a minimum overall grade of 80%, but in addition must have completed at least 5 credit-bearing modules in Accounting or Financeand must have attained a minimum of 85% in these modules. |
International Finance (M.Fin) |
Applicants from the top 300 ranked universities graduating in any subject will be considered provided they meet the overall minimum average grades. Applicants must have school level Mathematics or at least 1 credit-bearing module in University level Mathematics

Applicants from the top 300 ranked universities, graduating in a Social Sciences subject will be considered provided they meet the overall minimum average grades. Candidates graduating in other subjects may also be considered if they have relevant work experience.
Applicants who have a degree in Economics and wish to pursue further studies in Development Economics, are advised to apply for the MSc Economic Development or the MSc Finance & Economic Development.

This is a Generalist degree for applicants who have no previous studies in the area of Business and Management. Those applicants who do have a record of relevant previous study in this area are advised to consider one of our Specialist degrees: MSc International Business & Entrepreneurship, MSc International Management & Leadership or MSc International Strategic Marketing. |

This is a Specialist degree for applicants with a background in a relevant field of study. Those who do not have such a background who would like to pursue further studies in the area of People Management and Leadership are advised to apply for MSc Management with Human Resources. |
APPLICATION SUBMISSION DATES
·The University recognises that not all geographies are able to complete and submit their applications at the same time during the year. Accordingly, the following process has been established to ensure equity and fairness to all our international applicants
oAll International Applications submitted between September 1st and December 15th will be reviewed and processed in accordance with this Admissions Policy and Process – this is referred to as the CORE Admissions Cycle;
oInternational Applications may be submitted between December 16th and March 31st. Priority will be given to applications submitted during this period which come from geographic areas which have been unable to submit applications by the December 15th deadline. This is referred to as MINORITY COUNTRIES APPLICATION WINDOW.
oInternational Applications received after March 31st will be considered following a review of available places and exceptional offers will be made on a case by case basis in pursuit of a student profile which reflects diversity.
